Curly Haircuts & What you need to know

Curly hair is beautiful, but it can definitely be high maintenance. Curly hair tends to be naturally dry and prone to frizz, so it requires more care than straight hair. It is important to use a deep conditioning treatment every week, and to use a wide-toothed comb or a special detangling brush to minimize breakage. Additionally, it's important to use a shampoo and conditioner specifically designed for curly hair, as well as a leave-in conditioner. Curly hair also requires more frequent trims.

At Wavi London we understand how difficult it can be to find a stylist that really knows how to work with curls. That's why we are proud to have Jeyda Hassan on our team, Jeyda is a Curly hair Specialist, who has been trained with curly haircuts and has years of experience with cutting curly hair. She is passionate about haircare and is happy to share her knowledge with her clients to help them maintain their curls at home. With Jeyda's expertise, you can trust that your curls are in the best hands possible.

Curly hair can be difficult to cut because it creates a triangle shape, rather than a smooth line. This can cause an uneven and unappealing look. Curly hair also tends to be much more fragile than straight hair, so it is important to use special cutting techniques and products to avoid breakage. For these reasons, getting a haircut from a curly hair specialist is always best. A specialist will understand the different techniques and products that are needed to create a beautiful, natural look for curly hair. They will also be able to advise on how to keep your hair looking healthy and manageable.

We asked Jeyda Hassan to give Wavi Wellness readers some tips for Curly hair;

1 . When it comes to styling your hair, it is important to remember that you should never towel dry curly hair. Towel drying can cause friction and breakage, leading to frizzy, dry, and damaged hair. Instead, you should use a microfiber towel or a soft t-shirt to gently squeeze out the excess water from your hair.

2. When detangling curly hair, it is important to do so whilst the hair is wet and with conditioner. This helps to lock in moisture and keep the hair strands from breaking or becoming damaged.

3. Styling products are essential for creating and maintaining beautiful curls. However, it’s important to apply product to curly hair when it’s wet. Applying styling products to dry hair can cause it to become weighed down and limp, leaving the curls looking lifeless and dull.

4. Lastly, if the Hairs are frizzy when it's wet they will be frizzy when it is dry. Jeyda recommends defusing the hair to create a cast.
